ABOUT

Trekking in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dolomites, characterized by the panorama of gentle pastures and green plateaus from which majestic peaks stand out. The actual trek start from Moso and conclude at Vodo di Cadore. We pass by beautiful UNESCO site of Locotelli and Auronzo. A show not to be missed for mountain and nature lovers is the sunset in the Dolomites. The evening shots are particularly suggestive, when in the light of the last rays of the sun the rocks are tinged with the different warm tones of pink, orange and red, forming the magical natural phenomenon of Enrosadira.

TREKKING ITINERARY

DAY 01: from Venice to Moso by public transports (train / bus / car)

DAY 02: from Moso, Sesto (1337 m) by road walk toward the the junction of Val Sassovecchio (1631 m, 1.30 h). On the left under the slopes of Cima Una we go up to the Zsigmondy-Comici hut (m. 2224, h.1,30). 3 hours. OVERNIGHT at Zsigmondy-Comici.

DAY 03: From the hut on the right for Passo Fiscalino (m. 2519), we reach the pass and refuge Pian di Cengia (m. 2522, h. 1). We go down to the Piani lakes then go up to the Locatelli refuge (m. 2405, h. 1). From the hut we descend a few tens of meters and climb gently to Locotelli) left the gravels under the Paterno up to Forcella Lavaredo (m.2454) crossing the gravels under the Tre Cime, we reach to the Auronzo hut (m. 2330) h. 1.30. for OVERNIGHT STOP. 4-5 hours.

Variations: Overnight stay at the Locatelli refuge.

DAY 04: From the refuge, we descent by trail / road to Misurina (2 hrs). From Misurina we take a bus to Cortina and then change to Passo Falzarego. We descend to the Bai di Dones lake before the Falzarego pass and the chairlift takes us to the 5 Torri refuge (m. 2137). From there with a trekking track up to Forcella Nuvolau and to the Nuvolau refuge (m.2574, 1 hour). 3-4 hours. OVERNIGHT AT Nuvolau hut.

Variations: The day after we descent through the Val di Landro to Lake Landro (2.30-3.00 am). Continue by bus to Cortina and then as per the program and OVERNIGHT at Scoiattola hut (21 minutes from Nuvolau hut)

DAY 05: We return to Forcella Nuvolau and pass under the Averau wall, for meadows at Passo Giau (m.2233, 1h). From there we go right to Forcella Giau (m. 2360, 1 h). We descend along Mondeval valley, going uphill under the Ambrizzola (2277 m) and Col Duro forks, then descending to Malga Prendera (m.2148), Col of Col Roan (m.2075) and finally to the Città di Fiume refuge (m. 1918, h 2.30): or Rifuggio Venezia for OVERNIGHT STAY here. 5-7 hours

DAY 06: From the Città di Fiume shelter southwards, under the Parmo del Pelmo (path 472) with modest descents and ascent we reach to Venezia-De Luca hut (1946m .) 3-4 hours. OVERNIGHT STOP at Venezia-De Luca hut.

Variations: from the Città di Fiume hut on the 468 path to Forcella fork and Val Forada up to S. Vito di Cadore (1000 m, 5 hours). Bus stop as in day 7.

DAY 07: From the Venezia hut by cart track to Passo Rutorto, then path to Buse del Serla, Forcella de Cuze (m.1265), Vodo di Cadore (2.30 hours). Then in bus to Cortina or Calalzo and we return to Venice by public transports (train/bus).
